Sixth Form Leadership

All students will be contributing to the Banbury Academy Community and wider community in two ways. Through engaging in a committee and leading a club for lower school pupils.


Principal Students
Principal and Deputy Principal students

Xandra, Principal Student Banbury Academy; Maya, Deputy Principal Banbury Academy; Kerstin, Principal Student Space Studio Banbury; Kyle, Deputy Principal Space Studio Banbury.

Year 13 principal students will lead weekly Student Council meetings and work with staff and students to represent to student population.

The Committees will plan and deliver one event per term designed by the students.
Charity and Community: Karcher Accumulator Challenge, community projects
Marketing: open evenings, pop up events, social media
Social: themed evenings, social events, improving our environment
Sports: dance, Sporting events, competitions

The Charity and Community Committee 2017-18

The Charity and Community Committee raised money in 2016-17 for Katharine House Hospice by arranging Halloween events including fancy dress and ‘sponge the teacher’

Marketing committee 2017
The Marketing Committee 2017-18

The Marketing Committee in 2016-17 represented all subjects at open evenings.

Social committee 2017
The Social Committee 2017-18

The Social Committee in 2016-17 raised money every Friday by selling hot chocolate and cakes. So far they have sourced a microwave, toaster, kettle, chairs and an air hockey table for the Sixth Form.

Sport committee 2017
The Sports Committee 2017-18

The Sports Committee in 2016-17 raised money for MacMillan Cancer Trust by staging their own bake off. They also raised over £140 for Katharine House by selling trinkets at the Winter Wonderland. Other events included Bingo, Friday Quiz, Friday Football, Sponsored Silence for Motor Neurone Disease Association and a Christmas jumper day.

Leadership roles that our sixth formers have volunteered for are the school photographer (Zainab), social media guru (Owen) and selling stationery to support lower school equipment and various lunch time sporting clubs.

Sixth Formers set up and run their own clubs. In 2016-17 they ran the following clubs.

  • Mentoring AS/A2 Monday Lunch HS1.
  • Orwell Youth Prize
  • Arts Award – Year 7/8 Story Museum project.
  • Library Assistant
  • Book group
  • LGBTQ+
  • Hockey year 7/8 Friday lunch on the Astroturf.
  • Art Homework club T07 after school.
  • Quiz club.
  • Table Tennis
  • Holiday French or Spanish for year 7.
  • Subject Learning Assistant – TA

Student Council
The Chair of each Committee will sit on the student council and the Principal Student will be a member of the Sixth Form.
