Banbury Campus Sixth Form: The Three Year Programme

For students with a Grade 3/D in GCSE English AND Maths and at least Grade 3 in 2 other subjects at GCSE or equivalent qualifications

Who can apply?
The Banbury Campus Sixth Form three year programmes is open to students who have achieved a Grade 3/D in both English and Maths, and have at least a Grade 3/D in two other subjects.

Year 12:  1 Level 2 Qualification + Sports or Arts Award + English &/or Maths GCSE + Aspirations Employability Portfolio + EDL

The First Year (The foundation Year)
The first year of the programme is designed to enable students to gain the qualifications and skills needed to progress to Level 3 qualifications in years 2 and 3.

Students will study English and Maths GCSE and the specifically designed Positive Mindset Programme; a study, learning and work skills programme equipping students for the future. As well as participating in study lectures, university workshops and engagement experiences, students will have the opportunity to gain work related experience on and off campus.
In the first year of the programme students also opt for one of four Level 2 Technical Pathways chosen from:

  • Business
  • Health and Social Care

This is combined with a choice of ECDL, Arts Award or Sports Award.

In addition all students participate in the unique Aspirations Employability Portfolio, and record their experiences on The Edge. (Please see details on corresponding pages). There will also be opportunity for students to take part in a Traineeship.
Successful completion of the first year enables a clear route to Year 2 and 3 studies.

The Second and Third Year (Year 12 and 13)
Students progressing to the second and third year will study Three  Level 3 qualifications either from the technical courses on offer or as a mix of technical and A level.

In addition they will continue with the Aspirations Employability Portfolio in Year 12 and progress to The Extended Project Qualification in Year 13. Leadership and Engagement, Careers and Guidance Programme. All sixth form students are expected to participate in this essential programme.
